Surprise Chat with Lisa Mason

Tonight we have a special guest writer, our Dean Lisa Mason. Our DCT (Dean, Chaplin, Teacher) will contribute to the blog by writing an entry at least once a week. This is a great way for them to reach out to those who are not attending camp and for others to see what goes into the teachings and lessons planned for each week. I now introduce to you Lisa Mason-

SCA experienced a great first full day! Our theme for camp this summer is Abound in Hope (Romans 15:13), and we are exploring what it means to have hope and what are we hoping for through the eyes of Holy Week.
Yesterday we shared the hope and anticipation experienced by Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday as we looked at the week ahead of us at camp with those same feelings. Today we talked about the expectations Jesus’ followers had about Jesus’ life and ministry, and we asked ourselves about our own expectations of Jesus. We also had a full day of worship, great singing, games, high ropes course, swimming, kayaking, making nametags, and a surprise evening activity of watching the Spurs game on the big screen!

Tomorrow we will take the next step on the journey to the cross and the empty tomb while having another fun filled day at camp. The campers are ready for a great week and the counselors and staff are spectacularly prepared and enthusiastic. It is a blast and a blessing to be here with all of them. Off to evening chapel!

Peace,
Lisa Mason+

And Love to all,
   Lena B.
