Christmas in July

With rain coming in endless down pours last night, we did not let it damper our spirits. We finished the day with an energetic and hyper game of Ball-O-Le. At one point, we had a couple of games of Boys v. Girls and that really got people pumped up. In the end, the girls won a game and so did the guys and a decision was made that it was a Camp Capers Tie. Due to the mud and rain, we had our chapel service in the activities building, where we talked about how this week we will be going through every major holiday that the church has in one week, starting from the beginning. In that case, Sunday was Advent, and we all know what comes after Advent……CHRISTMAS!!
Program staff got up bright and early this morning to make 150 cups of hot chocolate to hand out in the quads. Not only did they hand out this savory drink, they barged (yes, barged) into cabins waking up campers and counselors with the lovely sounds of Christmas carols and the aroma of hot cocoa. After they had gotten dressed and had arrived at breakfast, they were surprised with Christmas music coming from the dinning hall. This was definitely the best breakfast I have had all summer. There is nothing like eating a bowl of cereal while listening and singing to Christmas tunes with your buddies.
The rest of the day has been a great one. With no rain in sight and cool breezes to relieve us from the summer heat, we had a blast going to the pool and river, playing soccer, participating in high ropes, and watching a clip from “A Charlie Brown Christmas” in teaching. After dinner we sang some Christmas favorites like “Jingle Bells” and “Santa Clause is Coming to Town”; the energy and mood that was amongst the campers was as if it was Christmas Morning, and it was seven pm!
At the moment, there is a game of Triple Dodge ball happening on the Centrum and from the sounds of it, my eagerness to go play is growing bigger and bigger. We will finish the night by having a movie night and watching “A Christmas Story”. Definitely a crowd pleaser, so I am super excited.
As I depart from my blogger audience, I wish a happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night.

Love to all,
     Lena B.
